Rebuilding Soil Health with Diversity based Ecological Farming Systems to address Nutritional Security for Farm Soils – Farm Animals – Farming Families

The grant support was utilized in organizing programmes in three different rainfed regions with diversified climate of Karnataka State. They are;

  • Beguru (25 women farmers) and Arabala Gollarahatti (30 women farmers) in Beguru Grama Panchayath of Ajjampura Taluk, Chikkamagalur District.

  • Maravemane (35 women farmers) in Mushturu Grama Panchayath and Kotthooru  (23 women farmers) in Nangali Grma Panchayaths of Mulabagilu Taluk, Kolar District

  • Doddinduvadi (50 women farmers) in Doddinduvadi Grama Panchayath of Kollegala Taluk, Chamarajanagara District.

  • Exhibition of soil types, native sowing seeds, local breed farm animals

  • Demonstration of improving soil fertility by making various organic soil inputs

  • Making of colour paints with available soils and using them to draw various pictures related to natural resources by students.

  • Identifying the local names of various weeds in the village and exhibiting them to make

  • Students to understand their roles in addressing nutrition food, fodder, manure and for medicinal purposes.

  • Collecting various types of flowers within the vicinity of the village and in surrounding areas using them to decorate the heap of soils and sowing seeds
